What a Weekend

It was quite an eventful weekend here in Iqaluit, for me anyway. Friday, the Government offices were closed due to a broken water main. The whole city was without water for a majority of the day, and again on Sunday while I was working. Saturday, when we had our water back, it was all about conserving since it was only a temporary fix and it was also unsafe water. We also had a hard core blizzard on Sunday. I had a pretty hard time driving to work in it, had to stop at least three times because of complete white out conditions, but I made it to work. Around five, the winds calmed down a little and my drive home wasn’t so bad. I couldn’t believe they would make me work in those conditions, and to force me to work when there was no water, but that is beyond my control and it is over with now.

Thomas and I had a few evenings that we claimed to ourselves, we have started watching the Planet Earth collection. I seriously love it! Zoe loves watching it too, and it is so funny watching her watch TV with us. She will be up on her tower with her back to the TV most of the time but as soon as we pop one of the Planet Earth Bluerays in, she turns around and is completely interested. Even if animals aren’t on the screen, she will still watch it. She is so cute, I love her to bits.

I am now into week two of my course and I feel like I am not completely where I want to be. I had to put working out on the back burner for a few days to read and work on studying chapter 1 last week, but I really wanted to be into chapter 2 before week two. Yes, I am on par with the course schedule, but I had planned to be ahead in the beginning, so I couldn’t get swamped. It’s Monday, and I have a chance tonight to get a lot accomplished if I work hard at it.

As a result of having to put my working out on the back burner, I am behind in the 365 days, 365 miles challenge I have myself in. This week I also have to find time to rack up 10 miles to put myself back on schedule. I promised myself I wouldn’t be like everyone else and give up on my goals. I created a goal list for this week, and I have downsized it since I will need more time to work on school and running. I hate to admit it, but somehow I will have to start getting up early enough to rack up a mile in the morning so I can get things done in the evenings. I am just going to work extra hard to pull myself back and who knows, I could possibly pull ahead.
